KnowHub is a project financed by Erasmus+ that aims at development of sustainable relationship between universities and economy in Western Balkan Countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro). This cooperation will encourage further development of research and practical teaching capacities in the involved universities, will increase the international competitiveness of enterprises, as well as provide students with practical experience which will increase their opportunities for further employment. The wider objective of this project is to strengthen the Partner Country Universities (PCUs) in a way that will allow them to fulfill their central role as innovators in their national economies and to become a respected partner of the enterprises.
This project has been designed to respond most adequately to the specific needs and problems in the partner countries. Five Commercialization Hubs will be developed at all participating universities not as research centers, but as interfaces between higher education institutions and enterprises and society. These Hubs will attract enterprises, especially start-ups and SMEs, to the universities because of the knowledge and skills of their staff (professors and students) as well as the valuable technology that they will possess.
The Hubs will be equipped with rapid prototyping equipment (RPT) and Lean Manufacturing (LEAN), which are very significant for increasing the competitiveness of the enterprises. With that the Hubs will support each PCU to utilise its full potential (knowledge, networks and equipment) in order to boost the entrepreneurial and innovation capacities.
